Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of some of the most frequently asked questions we receive at REDI, mostly about our forensic engineering services. If you have any more questions about our company, our services or our capabilities, feel free to get in touch with us today and we’ll be happy to provide you with more information.
Do you have trial experience?
Yes! We have been providing expert witness services since 2006 and have testified many times at trials and depositions. Our ability to put complicated engineering concepts into layman’s terms makes us excellent witnesses.
Do you work for defense attorneys or plaintiff attorneys?
We work for both, as well as insurance companies and a number of corporate clients. Basically, anyone who is able to make use of our expert knowledge.
How much do you charge for your services?
This depends heavily on the type of case, as some cases require significantly more experience and expertise. We also charge for the amount of time we spend on the case, as well as out-of-pocket expenses. We send invoices for our services on a monthly basis, and can also offer a rough estimate for your budgeting purposes. Contact us any time if you need to request a rate sheet or obtain a service contract.
Will you represent our interests at trial?
Our job as expert witnesses isn’t to represent anyone’s interests—it’s to speak about the facts in a given case and to answer questions truthfully. We conduct investigations, perform analysis or testing and then develop conclusions from there. Our role is assisting fact-finders in matters beyond their comprehension or experience level, not to frame the facts of a case in a way that is beneficial to one side.
What services do you provide aside from forensic engineering?
REDI provides civil or mechanical engineering services for machines or buildings. Those services can include any combination of tasks such as consulting, analysis, design, research, safety analysis, inspection or product development.
I want to buy a commercial property. Will you look at it and tell me what’s wrong?
We do offer a report containing system descriptions, limitations associated with inspection activities and deficiencies of building systems. The engineer we send will conduct an evaluation of the current physical condition of the property’s systems and materials while looking for visual evidence of distress. Cost estimates are provided for replacement or deficient items.
Can we pay for forensic services contingent on the outcome of the case?
No — we do not work on a contingency basis. The bulk of the cost you pay is for the time we spend on your case. We send invoices monthly.
Your office is located in Nebraska but will you work in other states?
Yes, we are available to work all across the United States. Contact us with more information about the job you’re looking to have done and we’ll provide you with more information about our capabilities.
